slow laptop

My laptop has gotslow all of a sudden.
thought it was just internet but it still slow opening up apps.
It freezes for a min before going again.
internet does this too.
its like its working all the time.
Its not even a year old.
Its an hp

Well i have hp laptop with vista in it and it used to run slow and freeze all the time but it runs a lot better now with the windows service pack 2 in it.
your laptop might be full of spyware that will make it run slow these days antivirus software isnt enoughyou need to get spyware removal sofgtware .
I use norton 360 it does everything

I have norton antivirus. i also have malwarebytes i downloaded yesterday which found 10 infected files and i cliicked the empty temp internet files box and it seems a little better now but not as fast as my other laptop (acer).

If use the likes norton 360 it also has a registery cleaner as well that helps to the other thing u could try is reset your internet explore settings that makes it go quicker to
press start-right click internet explorer-click on internet properties-click on the advanced tab-then click at the bottom reset internet explore properties.
Have u went on the windows update and downloaded the service pack 2 for vista it does make it more reliable my laptop used to run like an old cow before i downloaded it?

downloaded all windows updates.
seems better now.
hadnt downloaded windows updates since january!
it says its set to download updates everyday at 0300 so why doesnt it do auto?

cause your lappy is not on at 3 in the morning??

set it to the one underneath

download updates but let me choose etc.
then you will get a little yellow shield botton right when there are updates available.

also dont forget progs like CCleaner or glary utils
they peform many checks under a single click.

Could it be that it may be overheating. My one slowed so I bought one of those laptop supports with a fan built in and the problem seems to have been resolved. I understand that they are quite sensitive and can overheat quite readily if there is no air passing underneath it. I am no wxpert and this is only a suggestion.

I cannot seem to get any power /lights coming on on my laptop ?
Have checked the power cable but the end going in LT was very Hot soemtimes ,hardly touchable that hot ?
Only have had it just little over a year

i'd start your own thread.
however, if the plug is getting hot its shorting out.
time for a new power supply by the sounds of things.
i doubt you will get it repaied or refplaced under soga, but you could try.
