Price upto £1000.00, digital hopefully at the price I am willing to pay professional. Maybe I am wrong and what I am willing to pay will not buy me a camera that will take professional photo's I really am confused.

With that sort of budget you have a wide choice. Suggest you start with a reasonable DSLR from the likes of Canon, Nikon, Sony etc with a couple of kit lenses and a good flash. Read the reviews and watch videos from Youtube etc. There's lots of info out there once you get a feel for the market.

Also worth buying a few magazines from the newsagents. There always doing features on starter packages.
    All the world's a stage and we are merely players . . . . .

The camera only records the view you give it and at the settings you apply so if you buy a "professional " camera its up to YOU,not the camera to get professional photos.
Give me a Canon 5d MarkII and the results that i get will be the same as i get from my £400 450d but would certainly hope to improve over time but it certainly wouldn't make me an instant "pro" or i would have bought one.I read in the Photoplus Magazine a comment from a professional who said that a top quality lens is more important than a top quality camera so maybe spend £500 on the camera and the same on a good lens

Have a look on Flickr and see the amazing results people get from cameras like the "tiny" Canon 450d or 40d,the results are professional and from cameras that are described as entry level dslr's.

    egregory,

There's some good advice from both Deemac and mph, I particularly agree with mph's comments about camera body and lens.

Have a look at these websites:-
    http://www.dpreview.com/ for camera reviews.
http://www.bythom.com/ for Nikon reviews and comments.
    http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials.htm for Photography Tutorials.
http://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk/ for some of the best prices.

Don't ignore secondhand equipment, particularly lenses, Ffordes of Beauly are well worth a visit, one of the UK's top secondhand camera dealers, you will get good advice, they also sell new, but are not the cheapest.
I do recommend going and trying the "feel" of different manufacturer's cameras, some of your purchase decision should be based on how you get on with the camera.

    Good luck

    NL
