Might be worth a read and further investigation for some Orgers. But do it quickly deadline 31 January 2009. Good Luck.

Do it through the HMRC though, can't vouch for this site.

Wow thanks Brokencross! Turns out my partner is entitled to this! We have read all the small print and seems he is entitled to the top amount! How crazy is that! Looks like the kids can get some new clothes for school/new school uniforms for years to come!
I SWORE ON ONE THREAD!
GET OVER IT!!!!!
Thanks for that Brokencross. Could have got you a pint in Boro on Jan 3rd if youd have posted sooner. Was there for the FA cup game v Barrow. Had a great day out and contrary to popular belief Middlesbrough is a great place(not a patch on Thurso though) Once again thanks.
Shelley, don't bank on the idea that you will get money paid to you in the same way that tax credits are paid. The following information is at the bottom of one of the links provided:-
"Few claimants will be given actual cash, however. Most will receive an extra allowance to reduce the income tax they have to pay."
It is still beneficial, but not cash-in-hand.
Another financial freebie for soon-to-be-mums.

this website seems to be charging you to do this in this
(Please note,
The Entitlements Agency will retain any interest and £94exc vat for processing and administration.)
please check through the government website if you think you are entitled to this
I contacted Inland Revenue a few years ago about this one. I was told there was no such thing.
Thanks for finding the link!
There are two rules for success:
1. Never tell people everything you know
That is why I said to do it directly through HMRC. I think that website is charging a "commission" of sorts which the HMRC warn about http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/news/ctc.htm which tells you the correct form to fill in to apply and also how to check if you are entitled.
They say.."Finally, please be aware that if you decide to use the services of a Tax Agent you will normally have to pay them a fee which could be a significant percentage of any repayment you may be due."
Also for Tugs they say "Please do not telephone HMRC as this may cause an additional delay to your claim."

You are only supposed to hear about it and think it's wonderfully generous. You are not supposed to try and find out if or how you should claim it because that really upsets the whole system.
Who's cynical?
Oh, and if there's anybody from the tax office looking in, "It wasnae me wot sed that!"

haha nice one jaws, but i still don't know if the tax office in wick is still open or not!
I don't honestly know. There was some talk about it possibly closing a short time ago and some objections to it but I don't recall hearing it had closed.
If you find a number for them give it a ring, if they have closed recently I would think the calls would transfer automatically to wherever covers us.
If it all goes wrong I never said a word.
