Thread: Import agent in Wick?

  1. #1

    Question Import agent in Wick?

I might be going mad here, but I'm sure I once found the details of an import agent or freight forwarder based in Wick. I've been through the business index on the site and can't find him/her - does this ring a bell with anyone or was I dreaming??

If you are going mad CM I am with you as I am sure I seen a sign on a shop or building down by the harbour that said clearing agent (or similer).

I will have a look later and post if no one else replies.

I just been down around the harbour for a walk and thats the one I saw.

I think it said on the building Sandisons fishing vessel and shipping agent.

It had no phone number though.

Thank you both - they only handle goods coming into Scrabster and Wick though. I'm looking for someone who can arrange transportation here of an order from the manufacturer in Hong Kong and deal with all the associated Customs paperwork. I've been recommended a company in Felixstowe, but I'd far rather use someone local if possible.

    cazmanian_minx,
If I remember correctly the International Couriers, DHL, FedEX, etc, will handle one off imports if they ship the goods. If goods are over weight/size that they will handle then you will need to use a Freight Forwarder, There is an Inverness based one who handle stuff coming into Inverness Airport, http://www.dalcrosslogistics.co.uk. They should be able to point you in th right direction.

Another option may be to speak to Stevens http://www.dsteven-son.co.uk/

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Caz,
if your container is arriving at felistowe, you'll have to clear there at the point of entry, also you dont say if your goods are a complete load, if a partial then a little more complicated as the goods will de-van at an approved site, and then be delivered after customs clearance
if it is a partial load then the warehouse (or erts as they are known) should be able to help you out with the clearance, as for the haulage in this situation, the choice is entirely yours, with a complete container load the shipping line will charge you a premium if you nominate your own traction
