Hi Fly "beelie caa" was really William Shearer who had the Royal Burgh built in Wick He had a boat called the Reward before that . The Royal Burgh was sold to Macduff before returning as the Deveronside to Lybster when Donald Calder bought her

Geordie and Arthur Doull best butchers in Wick Trinkie, Then came The Harrold Brothers ,ofcoarse thats from the Wick side,great butchers from Pountley side too, not forgetting Donnie Angus at Harbour,wonderful memories.

Aye Tony There were some rare guys about Robert Swanson (num) George Thain Donald MacDonald (dusty) James MacKay (fletter) George More (and his dad Rab) Ronnie Sutherland (pep) etc etc and while they enjoyed their dram it would be a great mistake to underestimate their skill and intelligence These guys were suberb navigators in a time before radio navigation aids when there was only clocks and compasses to help them
They have my total admiration

I beleive both Bill Wisemans boats the Rival and Stack Rock are still going as houseboats in England as is the Golden Spinney Superb Procure Spindrift and Ajax
The Gleaners and Girl Linda are houseboats in West Scotland I beleive whilst the 1st Boy Andrew is now a diving boat called the Gallic Rose and the Ardent is a houseboat on the Caledonian Canal

that shop was originally jean reids and geordie and arthur both worked for her. my first job was message boy there and also made the sausages
in those days the shop closed at nine o clock at night also worked in drs and humped oil down to the boats

I'll always remember George Lyall's at the harbour front,I think he delivered stores to the majority if not all of the boats in Wick.......

I used to deliver groceries to the same boats as Jock . I worked in George Lyalls next door to Donnie Angus. Rare old times. I remember you there Jock.

Peter - there was a film made in Wick after the Enterprise towed in the juny. I can not for the life of me remember the name of the film.We all got 5 bob for doing extra's in some of the scenes. The premiere was shown in the pavilion. Some of the scenes were shot in a house in Argyle Sq.

Am I right in thinking that the Royal Burgh was the last fishing boat built in Wick. I remember her being launched into the river, off the north pier.

Would love to see any old films with the old Wick boats in.

The film after the Juny was brought in would be great to see as my father was on the Enterprise the day they found her. I was only a baby when this happened but I seem to remember my dad telling me that the skipper of the Juny visited our house, must have been when they came to pick her up.
