Thread: Hen with full crop

    Default Hen with full crop

My hen has a very full crop and it looks as if she has been pecking the feathers around the area. Any tips on how to help clear this?

She may have an impacted crop which would appear very large, this may make the feathers on her crop look sparse as the skin is so stretched.
How long has it been like this? you may have to manually empty it for her.

Thanks for your responses. I'm going to have a go at manually emptying her crop. She's quite tame and doesn't mind being lifted - whether she will enjoy having a little tube down her throat is another matter I'll let you know what happens
