Default Force-Fires, an old Highland tradition.

The last Force-fire occured in Reay in 1830, this was so weird, I had to reread it a few times before I knew what it was about. lol

I watched a 'Survival' programme about 30 years ago and it showed African tribesmen doing much the same thing.

    Anybody want to re-enact it?
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.

That is pretty bizarre, I will need to re read it again I think.

I wonder if this is where "as thick as two planks" comes from

    Default two sticks

the aboriginal people I have worked with in remote outback Australia still know how to make their fires from rubbing two sticks together, now they use cigarette lighters instead for convenience, maybe we can arrange a kinda torch relay from the antipodes with a fire lit by the old methods! and transferred by the cosmic surfboard to Caithness..........
IDA is just an 'e' short of an IDEA!
