people who have an avery

does anyone on the site run a bird avery, i would love to know about the types you breed (i am starting my avery with cockatiels). It would be good to have local contacts.

Well I'm not local but have had birds all my life, mainly parrots. Cockatiels are great birds to start an Avery with. Hardy, friendly, good talkers, and breed well. If when you do decide to breed any babies you can then sell them and that then buys the next sack of food so you end up with a great hobby that doesn't cost you anything. Theres lots of greens you can give them to that grow in your garden like dandelions, chickweed, all sorts of grasses. Go on line and have a read about cockatiels, there's loads on there and good luck with your new Avery. jan x
