    Default What was on fire?

    Looking east towards Thurso direction about 2.40pm. This looks quite frightening, what was on fire?

    Maybe a bit early, not sure, but if the weather has been dry this could be a land owner doing grass or heather burning, not an uncommon sight, especially in April, thats why I say it might be early yet unless the weather has been real good for the year.

    I know what's on fire now, after seeing those photo's. My yearning to get back up there, or thereabouts sometime soon. Even those two relativley unspectacular pics managed to capture & convey open space. Even if the nuclear power facility (de-commisioned) got in the way. I'd swap any bit of it for this end of the Manchester connurbation any day.
    Enjoy it, you lucky people. I haven a whole row of very similar houses just twenty yards across the way, & my close field has a motorway disecting it . The nearbv woods are great though - a small comfort crumb for Perce.

    Well just about the same time, my garden was on fire and the fire brigade was called in. Definitely not the fire in the picture, but it was an eye-opener how dry the grass was, and how quickly it spread. Hate to say this but I ignored the good advice of Mrs ywindythesecond and lit it anyway. No doubt the chickens will come home to roost in due course, but she is presently absorbed with the memory of five strapping firefighters and their handling of the beaters.
