Flies Cemetery

Now my mouth is watering for that treat Flies Cemetery aka Fruit Squares.

Does anyone have a good recipe?

i have only posted this as no one else has replied but though i have written the recipe down i have never tried it, here goes anyway

flea cemeteries

filling

6oz mixed raisins and currants
1 small apple, peel and core
1tsp mixed spice
2oz soft brown sugar
2 tbsps water
1 level dsp flour

grate apple into fruit, put all in a pan and bring to boil to dissolve sugar, cool
roll out 2x9 inch square bits of pastry, shortcrust, and spread filling to within 1 inch of the edge, put 2nd piece of pastry on top, brush with egg, sprinkle on some sugar, white i presume and seal the edges, bake 30 mins at 180oc
cut in squares

i see i have written underneath, pastry
8oz plain flour
4oz marg
pinch salt
1egg, rub marg into flour and salt, bind with the egg, may need 1tsp milk
