Jailed for driving while disqualified
Driver has no excuse for not knowing possible consequences, said sheriff
A REPEAT offender who drove while disqualified, was jailed for four months at Wick Sheriff Court yesterday.
Gary Robertson, 29, pleaded guilty and also admitted having no insurance. He was caught driving in Wick, on October 12.
Robertson, of 12 Kennedy Terrace, Wick also pleaded guilty to smashing two windows at a house in the town's Barrogill Street, on July 5.
Passing sentence, Sheriff Andrew Berry, said that there was no possible excuse for the accused not knowing the possible consequences of driving while disqualified as he always spelled out the seriousness of doing so, when such penalties were imposed.
Coupled with the accused's record including domestic disorder and an inability to comply with bail conditions, a custodial sentence was the only option, added the sheriff.
In addition, Robertson was disqualified for two years.
