Phoned RNID yesterday to see what teaching aids they have as I am wanting to teach a child fingerspelling.
Explaining MIL was deaf and dumb, immediately pounced on being told 'we don't use that term any more, its profoundly deaf', in a very snotty voice, explained as that is how MIL describes herself it is good enough for me, the lady then apologised.
Still only managed to get a couple of a5 cards of fingerspelling - they certainly don't make it easy. It was suggested I find evening classes in local area, not very helpful when hubby works shifts.
Some people are like Slinkies. They're really good for nothing. But they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.
