I guess the floods are probably caused by the tears of locals at the thought of an 'incomer'. :-)
hi, thinking of moving to this area . do you get many floods.
I guess the floods are probably caused by the tears of locals at the thought of an 'incomer'. :-)
Haent had to build an ark yet.Never waterskied down the road either....Fields are a bit waterlogged and muddy.
Life is too short to spend it in beige underwear!
Are you purchasing or renting...
Watten is fairly dry... higher up the better... The river floods the fields especially at high tide and after heavy rainfall... Generally safe around the Watten crossroads...
Angel...
I'm not perfect, which is a shame really, as everyone else is!
great to see a sense of humour. ah sure what would you make of an irish man.
A nice stew?
Welcome to the Org.
What did the drowning Watten hippy say?
"Like help."
You asked originally about flooding in Watten, well as mentioned the river does flood into farm fields occassionally, I have never seen the village under water and most roads remain open even after very wet periods.
I have attached a few pictures to let your see the type of flooding that Watten has had in 2011, most houses are not built where flooding could be a problem, but some get pretty close to being able to fly fish for salmon!
Pictures taken from the bridge over the Wick River at Watten. Some of the signs say take care when fishing!
You ain't sellin' it richardj.
thanks for that richardj we get our fair share of the wet stuff but the uk is beating us this year. traveller.
traveller,
ducati thinks I am being a bit negative ... but you did ask about flooding! Now on the other hand as I love Caithness a few more pictures showing you another side of the story. I hope you decide to move to Caithness, Watten is a lovely village.
I did have more but the forum software is not allowing me to add anymore at the moment
Nice save richardj! Is that a caught fish or bait?
I would contact SEPA for a definitive answer.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.
Check out SEPA's indicitave flood map on their website.
I encountered problems providing the link.

I think the link you were wanting to show is http://go.mappoint.net/sepa/ then enter Watten in the search box. It does take a while to load the map.
Richard
The floods are bad enough, then there's the tsunamis.
