Grassroots Arts Council Charges

[The Pepsi Challenge]

As some of us are already aware, councils will soon be implementing fees/ charges against venues who aim to put on any kind of Arts-related event, be it for profit or non-profit. This is an attack on grassroots venues and organisations and well worthy of discussion. In today's Edinburgh Evening News, Thurso's very own Kevin Williamson has written an excellent piece that highlights this issue very well. With any luck, this new charge will, quite rightly, be stopped. And it will take a lot of luck at the very least.
