Severance Package For Councillors

I believe that half of the entire Highland Council are to retire next May with generous pay-offs.
Good riddance I say, but it galls me to know they will be laughing all the way to the bank.

I cannot be alone in thinking that the golden handshakes for councillors who decide not to stand next year are a disgraceful bribe to clear the way for a four-party carve-up of the new multi-member constituencies.

Not surprisingly, the proposals will benefit the four main parties - Labour, Tory, Lib Dems and Nats. I have no doubt that we will witness an unseemly scramble in the next few months as some 'independents' jockey to be taken on board by the big Parties.

Can anybody tell me where we can see a list of those leaving, and those planning to hang on?

Hopefully councillors Smith, Saxon Jackson and Mackay will take the golden handshake and make way for new councillors who will listen to the views of their constituents.

They can get rid of as many of the mainstream party councillors as they wish, as long as those Scottish Socialist numpties don't get in then I'm not bothered!

I just hope that when the folk of Caithness see these Ex-Councillers walking down the street after they get this Big Bribe (SORRY HANDSHAKE ) .They remember that its Pensioners pockets that they took it out off ...They shouldn't be ask to Retire but Resign ....SHAME ON YOU ....Lets see if there are any with a backbone ,that will stand-up and resign ....

I don't think that there is any chance of any of them resigning if they can get a handout.
Just rememberer that councillors are not councillors for your good, they are in it for THEIR good!!!
