    Default agricultural land rents

anyone know what would be a sensible rent for about 4 acres of rough grazing in Caithness. I've been offered some to rent but the owner says she has no idea what to charge.

Ask the mart at quoybrae, they'll tell you the going rate for the type of ground

For croft land I would reckon in the region of £70-£80 per acre per annum-to a crofter that is.

I spoke to the Mart in January and estimated prices are as follows:
    Average - £70/80 per acre
    Excellent - £130
    Poor - £30

These prices are for seasonal lets (May - Sep/Oct) and if it is through the Mart, they will take 5% commission.
