    Default Dog Walking In Caithness

    Hi again

I'll be moving to Caithness within the next couple of months and was wondering where the good dog walking areas are? Can you use the beaches for dog walking? Also are there any nice wooded walks were the dogs can mooch about?

It will be great to meet up with other dog walkers, i'm hoping this will help me make some new friends

    Thanks

Also, dog groomer, any dog training schools and a good vet?

    Thanks

I recommend Kanemere Dog Training www.kanemeredogtraining.co.uk
Mucky Pups dog grooming service is opening tomorrow at the industrial estate in Wick
My dog loves the Woodland Walk at Newtonhill in Wick and Reiss beach is good for walks too. Hope this helps

    Default walking the dog

loads of places to walk the dog! Free poop bags and bins provided. Pity everyone does not use them!
p.s. at least your not warking your dog.
(only seasoned orgers will get that one)

Anywhere that there are cats is always a good walk for a dog.

You don't mention whether you're moving to Wick, Thurso or elsewhere?

    Wick:
    - Coastal path up past Old castle of wick...but stay away from cliff edges and sheep.
    - Pathways along riverside
    - Newtonhill Community Woodland (but keep doggies on paths as there can be sharp stuff in amongst the woodland; it's built on top of an old dump)
    - Sinclair Bay (well, this is by Reiss, but its about 4 miles out of Wick). Miles of sandy beaches all to yourself and doggie. You have to keep on lead during bird nesting season, but rangers are pretty good at posting signs as to when this is.

    Thurso:
    - Thurso Beach
    - Thurso Riverside
    - Pennyland moors
    - cliffside walk from Thurso Beach to West Gills (but don't do it when you're drunk, or picking up garbage in the wind with your wheelie bin)

    Also:
    Rumster forest
    Dunnet forest
Dunnet beach (but watch out for those glow-in-the-dark sandy bits)
    Dunbeath strath
    Latheron strath

    Hope this helps...
