Very Odd! Internet but no phone!

I have internet but no phone at the moment. I have a dialling tone but all the numbers I ring are engaged and when hubbie tried to call me earlier it was engaged. I have tried plugging in a different phone and it's the same. Also cannot get an o2 signal which is normally perfect.

Got o2 signal back! Rang BT and there's a major fault at the exchange, weird I've still got internet!

They'll be routed differently; in that they'll take different paths and go different ways within BTs network.

In Theory the Internet was designed to survive a massive infrastructure collapse such as a nuclear war... that is if the underlying system has been built probably, with BT 'Ya pays your money, ya takes your chances'
