Is there anywhere in Thurso, or around, that you can buy sea charts?

Looking for charts of the West Coast and Islands myself.
The only places I know of are in Inverness, but at least you can have a good look at what's on offer before buying.
I would recommend Admiralty Charts rather than Imray ones, and the book of Admiralty Chart symbols is a good accompaniment, likewise the area Tidal Atlas.
Caley Marine Inverness
Gale Force Inverness ( which is a huge chandlers.)
Ebay ( chartroom-online)
If you want them for the Caithness / Orkney area, I could give you the chart numbers to look up. They come in different scales as well.

Thanks for the advice dog_eared. The numbers would be hugely helpful!

If you look on the National Library of Scotland (http://www.nls.uk/maps/coasts/admiralty_charts_list.html) web site they have the old charts from the 1800s you can look at online.
They're a bit dated now but most of the chunks of rock and things haven't moved much since.

Re charts - Admiralty charts you can write on with a soft pencil and erase, Imray ones are water resistant and get damaged with a rubber. Maybe chinagraph would work.
The Admiralty Tidal Stream Atlas for the Pentland Firth and Northern Isles is - Orkney and Shetland Islands No NP209.
---------------------------------------------
These are the charts I use for the Pentland Firth and South Orkney.
Admiralty Charts
Moray Firth No 115 Scale 1:200 000
Inverness Firth to Rattray Head and up to Stroma.
Pentland Firth and Approaches No 2162 Scale 1:50 000
Holborn Head to Skerries and Freswick, North to cover Burray.
Scapa Flow and Approaches No 35 Scale 1:30 000
Sound of Hoxa, Hoy Mouth, up to Scapa Bay.
Orkney Isles Western Sheet No 2249 scale 1:75 000
N Hoy, Scapa Flow, Mainland, up to Papa Westray.
------------------------------------
Imray Charts
Cape Wrath to Wick and the Orkney Islands No C68 Scale 1:162 100.
As it says !
Imray C22 - same scale I think - got number from index.
Covers Moray Firth John O'Groats to Fraserburgh to Fort George.
Hope this helps.:)
