Can anyone understand how the powers that be logic out "bans".

This one has me beat.

2nd offence just over limit,9 months and a 250 fine.:confused

I was thinking the usual should be at least 3 years.

It would have been 12 if they hadnt agreed to go on the alcohol programe.

I thought they were suppose to be throwing the book at drunk drivers.:~(

That's sherriffs, magistrates and judges for you - they'll do their own thing regardless of what anyone else thinks.

I know someone who only got 9 month ban and small fine and was over double the limit.

They have done some courses with the police and get back behind the wheel this month......its madness

So how do they realise that what they have done is totally unacceptable.

There should be statutary scales or something that every judge/sheriff should go by.

Where is the "real" punishment.:~(

Well when i was younger and stupid (I'm old and stupid now) I bought my first car and instead of walking the 5mins home to have it insured I decided to drive and as bad luck would have it I was pulled over by the polis. Resulting in a trip to court first offence ever for any thing and was hit with a £600 fine and 6 points.
Whats got me mad about it was another lad who was 16, no licence, no insurance, no co driver etc got caught by the police, who then waited around the corner only to catch same chap again, court result 3 points £75 fine.
Vicar caught at 105mph £150 & 4 points (he was speeding cause his daughter was late for a meeting).
Yup think there a lot of funny handshaking going on.
