Does anyone know what type of bird this is in the video clip? I have been seeing them in the sand dunes at Reiss beach for a while and I think they have been feeding on snails, as there is a lot of broken shells next to some rocks that have been used to assist.
I would say that they are slightly bigger than a song thrush with white under plumage as the fly away from me.

They are not easy to get on video either.:confused

My guess is it's a female Blackbird but it's hard to see it properly in the vid. Have a look at the RSPB website.

Thanks for that, twiglet, it's not a Blackkbird of Songthrush and the closest I can get to what I think it might be (using the RSPB bird identifier) is the Fieldfare. http://www.rspb.org.uk/Images/fieldfare_tcm9-57899.gif (http://www.rspb.org.uk/fieldfare)

I may be mistaken with what it was eating because it is only an assumption based on the fact there are a few of these birds in that vicinity and lots of evidence of areas with broken snail shells.

I have had several goes at trying to get a decent video, but that is the best I have achieved so far.

Yes a Fieldfare. We used to get large flocks of them in the Borders around East Linton near the John Muir Park. But I notice they tend to only show small groups or individuals in this area.

Fieldfare sounds favourite then, ducati, thank you.:D
There is about half a dozen or so in this flock and it has been bugging me for a few weeks as to what they are, because I have not been able to get close enough to study them.
