I was telling my dad today about the geese I saw at Noss and asking where he thought they might go to roost tonight as I'd love to get up early and be there to see the birds at the roost first thing and watch them take off.
My dad was telling me then about how the ice was so hard and thick in the winter of 1955 that swans feet were frozen to the loch it had roosted on overnight.
I can't begin to imagine what pain something like that would be, poor birds.:~(
Made me stop moaning about the frost and icy pavements we are having.;)
Does anyone else remember anything about that hard winter in 1955?
