A Tribute to Hector
A wee dog found in the river
Plucked out by a good Samaritan
and taken to a loving home
nursed back to health
shown so much love
you repaid that love a million times over
In Thurso you were a wee legend
Everyone knew wee Hector
the tiny yorkie out walking all weathers
Keeping his daddy in line
Nobody told you that you were a wee dog
you would take on a rottie
without any fear
you just didn't get that
given a chance they would eat you
You loved your mum
were devastated when she died
but your fighting spirit
came back one day and wee Hec was back
Devoted to dad
never left his side
told him when to finish his pint
and get home for your tea
but one night dad got sick
went away and never came home
you were a broken wee dog
but dad had arranged a new home and with
Malc you went to stay
you transferred your love
to him and his family
your eyes told their loving tale
they took care of you, adored you
until dad and mum called you home to them
You have gone to the bridge
I can imagine the scene
when you saw them there waiting for you
you touched so many lives
such a deep unending love
and loved by so many it's true
sleep tight little pup
for I know you are happy
you are home
you are safe
you are loved
you are happy
with your mum and your daddy
Sleep tight sweet Hector
you had the heart of a Lion
Gone but never forgotten

That wee dog sat on my knee the day of my dads funeral, would not leave me, was my shadow and gave so much comfort.
My sorrow was that I could not take him on as he did not like my dog but Malc, Carla and Amanda gave him so much love it was amazing. I saw in his eyes that love that he held for them and I want to thank them with all my heart for what they gave Hector. I could never repay them for that kindness.
I should have seen him more but it broke my heart to see him looking for dad when he saw me as I was the last person he was with his daddy, I was weak and couldn't cope with that.
My dad called him his greyfriars bobby, that's where my pup got her name of Bobbi. He will live for eternity as long as he is always remembered by someone. He deserves that.

You did what was right for Hector and he was so well loved. He sounds like a lovely wee character and he will live on both in the afterlife and in the hearts of you and his adopted family.

Our animal friends leave their pawprints on our hearts when they move on.

Sending you a huge cyber hug. xxx

What a beautiful poem, Unicorn. Hector's story touches my heart. The wee guy had to deal with sad losses in his short life but it sounds like he was loved by so many.
