Sporran

Seems I've come down with the post holiday blues
A sad, empty feeling, don't want to be in these shoes
Our trip is over, and here we are back home
Just ma and pa Sporran, the two of us alone
It was good to be in my homeland again
To mingle amongst British women and men
To hear the accents of England's north west
Scots tongue of Auld Reekie, they're two o' the best
Driving on the left was certainly a thrill
Not so close to kerb hubby, you'll get someone killed!
Watch out for the cars parked on the roadside
Remember these streets are narrow, not wide!
Did our share of walking, several miles in our shoes
But that's alright, have some pounds to lose
We walked up and down Edinburgh's Royal Mile
Then boarded Britannia, that yacht has such style!
Went to the Grassmarket, and the White Hart Inn
Where Burke and Hare drank, and lured their victims
The thought gave me the shivers, I must confess
But I still liked being there, nevertheless
Watched the sun setting from atop Calton Hill
Another one of my favourite thrills
Before it got dark, enjoyed the views all around
High above the city, with barely a sound
Saved the Castle for last, yes we'd been there before
It's an Edinburgh place I'll always adore
As for Princes Street, well what can I say?
I don't like seeing it torn up that way!
Our trip is over, said farewell to family and friends
As you well know, all good things come to an end
I'm back across the Big Pond, in the good old USA
But memories linger on, and my visit's on replay!
