Hi roadbowler
Do you have siblings for John Donaldson - who married Ann Bain.

It could be that he was my Helen's brother !!!!! same age group and place. My Helen must be born bef 1770...

I don't have any other firm data for Helen - her name was taken from Barbara Gunns death 1871.

Parents: Alexander Gunn & Helen Donaldson.
Campster

Have you found any other Donaldsons in Camster Toftgun?

Barbara Gunn then of course married 1810 William Campbell and lived in Lybster Village.
(3xg grandparents)

Researching family of Alexander DONALDSON (born circa 1845, Wick), son of John Donaldson and Margaret SUTHERLAND, grandson of John DONALDSON and Ann BAIN. Located with family in 1851 & 1861 census in Toftgun, Latheron; in Putneytown in 1871. Alexander moved to Campbeltown, Argyll between 1871- 1876 where he married Margaret McILCHERE

Have not been able to find baptismal record for Alexander. Any ideas?

Death record - 18 August 1878, Village of West Watten, Caithness -
John DONALDSON, age 78, pauper, formerly farmer, married to Margaret Sutherland, parents John Donaldson, farmer, deceased and Ann Donaldson, M. S. Bain, deceased. Diarrhea of six days duration, informant Hugh Donaldson, son.

Death record - 19 December 1889, Village of West Watten
Margaret DONALDSON, age 80, widow of John Donaldson, farmer, parents William Sutherland, farmer, deceased and Margaret Sutherland, M. S. Bruce, Chronic bronchitis, four years and cardiac debility, 3 months
Informant was son Hugh Donaldson.

I am interested in sharing info with others who are researching the families of John DONALDSON and Margaret SUTHERLAND as well as their parents William SUTHERLAND and Margaret BRUCE (parents of Margaret SUTHERLAND) and John DONALDSON and Ann BAIN.

Thanks
Barbara
