Hydrangea

I wonder if any of the keen gardeners in Caithness can help me. My mum gave me a Hydrangea that she grew hersel around about 5 years ago. I planted in my garden and waited for it to flower the following spring. I'm still waiting. The leaves are healthy and it looks very healthy, it looks just like a big bush, but no flowers. Does anyone have any ideas why its no flowering or maybe how I can get it till flower?

what kind of soil do you have it in - they need some ericacious compost dug in with ordinary soil
