Hi can anybody tell me when to cut back my Rosa Rugosa bushes back and how far

I have never had a Rugosa, however I would suggest March at the latest.
Certainly during the dormant period anyways and not before.
Maybe someone who has experience will let you know.

If it is pure Rosa rugosa then it should not need pruning - just let it become a thick bush with new shoots thrown up each spring. The big problem is that it spreads, so throughout the year you need to uproot any suckers taking off for new ground. You will see the new shoots appearing a few inches high and these need to be pulled out all the way back to the parent. Otherwise it will gradually fill your garden!

If it is a rugosa hybrid it will probably be well behaved and not need much attention.
