Is it just a case of me failing to see them, or are yellowhammers now very rare in east Caithness?
In recent years I regularly have seen a few in East Watten but so far this year I have only seen one :(. With their colourful plumage and prominent perch choice they were easily spotted.
By contrast, goldfinches and linnets seem more numerous this year.

I have seen a few in various different places this year but they are certainly not as numerous as they used to be.

We get yellow-hammers up here  If i see one i'll let ya know lol but i have not seen one up here yet let alone heard one. I lived in lincolnshire out in the country as a lad and always remember them calling for "a little bit of bread, no cheese" lol
