I am looking for information on Alexander Rae , son of William Rae and Margaret Waters. He was born in Wick in 1850 and married Mary Crowe, daughter of William Crowe and Elizabeth Miller in 1880. I know that William Rae was a bookseller, bookbinder, printer and publisher in Wick and after his death Alexander carried on the business. I also know from an article written in 1919 that Alexander was knighted and was Provost of Wick. I am particularly interested in Alexander’s career and his knighthood. Also any info on his family would be appreciated.
