" I wish I had said that. " - Oscar Wilde
" You will Oscar, you will. " - Cannot remember who of the top of my head.
Monty Python's Oscar Wilde Sketch
London 1895... The residence of Mr Oscar Wilde
(In WILDE's drawing room. A crowd of suitably dressed folk are engaged in typically brilliant conversation, laughing affectedly and drinking champagne)
PRINCE OF WALES: My congratulations, Wilde. You latest play is a great success. The whole of London's talking about you.
OSCAR: There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that it not being talked about.
(There follows fifteen seconds of restrained and sycophantic laughter)
PRINCE: Very very witty... very very witty.
WHISTLER: There's only one thing in the world worse than being witty and that is not being witty.
(Fifteen seconds more of the same)
OSCAR: I wish I had said that.
Whistler: You will, Oscar, you will.
(More laughter)
OSCAR: Your majesty, have you met James McNeill Whistler?
PRINCE: Yes, we've played squash together.
OSCAR: There is only one thing worse than playing squash together, and that is playing it by yourself.
(Silence)
I wish I hadn't said that.
WHISTLER: You did, Oscar, you did.
(A little laughter)
PRINCE: I've got to get back up the palace.
OSCAR: Your Majesty is like a big jam doughnut with cream on the top.
PRINCE: I beg your pardon?
OSCAR: Um... it was one of Whistler's.
WHISTLER: I never said that.
OSCAR: You did, James, you did.
(The PRINCE OF WALES stares expectantly at WHISTLER)
WHISTLER: ... Well, You Highness, what I meant was that, like a doughnut, um, your arrival gives us pleasure... and your departure only makes us hungry for more.
(Laughter)

I wonder where the yellow went
When I brushed my teeth with Pepsodent ?
A smile is quite a funny thing,
It wrinkles up your face,
And when it's gone you'll never find
It's secret hiding place.
But far more wonderful it is
To see what smiles can do,
You smile at one, he smiles at you,
And so one smile makes two.
sing this to Auld Lang Syne
" I looked in the mirror and what did I see? Myself looking back? No just an image of
me.
I looked in my mind and what did I see? All of the experience that life's brought for
free.
I looked at my body and what did I see?A vessel that sails on a sea.
I looked through my eyes and what did I see? The beauty of nature that's charges
no fee
I smiled, the reflection smiled back.I am what I am I have none else to be."
I like to pretend to be like myself
It's harder than you would suppose
I frequently say things that I would say
I often will wear my own clothes.
So next time you see me I might not be
The person you think that you see.
I often pretend to be like myself
It's fun to pretend to be me.

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but truth lies in the empty eye." - unknown
Where shall you seek beauty,

Smiling is infectious; you catch it like the flu,
When someone smiled at me today, I started smiling too.
I passed around the corner and someone saw my grin
When he smiled I realized I'd passed it on to him.
I thought about that smile then realized its worth,
A single smile, just like mine could travel round the earth.
So, if you feel a smile begin, don't leave it undetected
Let's start an epidemic quick, and get the world infected!
EVERYONE NEEDS A SMILE!!!!
A smile costs nothing, but gives much.
It enriches those who give it.
It takes but a moment,
But the memory of it sometimes lasts forever.
None is so rich or mighty that he can get along without it,
And none is so poor that he cannot be made richer by it.
A smile creates happiness in the home,
Promotes good will in business,
And is the cornerstone of friendship.
It can perk up the weary,
Bring cheer to the discouraged
Sunshine to the sad,
And is nature's best antidote for trouble.
Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed or stolen,
For it is something that is of no value to anyone
Until it is given away.
When people are too tired to give you a smile,
Give them one of yours.
No one needs a smile so much
As he who has none to give
Smiles ony work when they are not worked at. :(
ENJOY YOURSELF;
It's later thank you think.

May you always find three welcomes in life,
in a garden during summer,
at a fireside during winter,
and whatever the day or season,
in the kind eyes of a friend.
I do not mind if my cottage is rather small,
So long as there's room for my bed and mat.
Often and often neighbours come to see me
And with brave words discuss the things of old
Rare writings we read together and praise.
Doubtful meanings we examine together and settle.
Chinese A.D.406
In the days when an idea could be silenced by showing it was contrary to religion, theology was the greatest single source of fallacies.
Today, when any human thought can be discredited by branding it as unscientific, the power previously exercised by theology has passed over to science.
Hence science has become in its turn the greatest single source of error.
What is truth?
If someone asks,
I will answer him
That the truth is shy
And inexplicable,
Yet, there still remains
In the hearts of man,
And everywhere,
Even after all the words
Change and die
It's own meaning.

Silence is exhilarating at first, as noise is, but there is a sweetness to silence outlasting exhilaration, akin to the sweetness of listening and the velvet of sleep.
Do not the most moving moments of our lives find us all without words?
Let a fool hold his tongue and he will pass for a sage.
There is no subject so old that something new cannot be said about it.
The only fence against the world is a thorough knowledge of it.
There are only two kinds of people who are really fascinating, people who know absolutely everything, and people who know absolutely nothing.
A man's ethical behavior should be based effectually on sympathy, education, and social ties and needs; no religious basis is necessary. Man would indeed be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death.
There seems to be a terrible misunderstanding on the part of a great many people to the effect that when you cease to believe you may cease to behave.

Whatever America hopes to bring to pass in the world must first come to pass in the heart of America.
The things that will destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first instead of duty-first, the love of soft living, and the get-rich-quick theory of life.
Surprises are foolish things. The pleasure is not enhanced, and the inconvenience is often considerable.
For the man sound in body and serene of mind there is no such thing as bad weather, every sky has its beauty, and storms which whip the blood do but make it pulse more vigorously.
With some people solitariness is an escape not from others but from themselves. For they see in the eyes of others only a reflection of themselves.
What should young people do with their lives today? Many things, obviously. But the most daring thing is to create stable communities in which the terrible disease of loneliness can be cured.

The only things I can think of that St Andrew said are found in St John's Gospel
In chapter 1 verse 41, he says "We have found the Messiah."
And in John 6 V 9, Andrew says, "Here is a boy with five loaves and two little fish, but that is not enough for so many people."
Andrew obviously said more than this (it says in the Bible version I have - 'they said'... meaning the discipes, it doesnt' specify which discipe said it).

It's an achievement of life to die a gentleman.
The Road Not Taken
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same.
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads onto way.
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I –
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
