Can anyone tell me the story behind this fish at Helmsdale please? it wasn't there last time i was down the harbour 2 or 3 years ago, it's just sooo clever!

That's a fish? Looks more like the jib of a JCB digger to me. Wonder how much the 'artist' got paid for glueing baco foil to the wall.......
I like it, sort of central american style to it.
Hi there
This site has some infomation hope this helps
March 2006 saw, Julian Meredith, a printmaker from Herefordshire start his residency, focussing on the natural heritage of Helmsdale Harbour. This residency included a commission to create a piece of work for the harbour area. The commissioned piece, a large fish/whale, representing the migration of whales in the North Sea and salmon to the River Helmsdale, fabricated in sheet steel, was installed on the East Pier wall in August.

thanks Miss E - just the information i was looking for :D but it's definately a fish not a whale lol
it more than a fish - its a whole shoal.
I like the movement in the piece, your get a real feel for the way the shoals dart back and forth through the water

yes i can see where you are coming from, i hope i captured the movement and although it's made from steel the sunset lent a gold sheen to it, i just think it is an impressive piece of art :D
Tugmistress,
In your image it appears to have become entangled in the fishing industry detritus that manages to claim so many marine mammals every year.....
~~~~~~><(((:>~~~~~
I think it's crap...what an utter waste of money. They would have been better spending it on a muriel:) ,(Hilda Ogden speak), or a huge enlargement of one of Tugs' photies. :)
