I have finally found the nerve to give you a taste of some of my poetry. I have had several published but this one is quite new...
My Heart Belongs to Scotland
My heart belongs to Scotland
That proud and noble land
A rugged place of mystery
Built by nature’s hand
My voice winds through the heather
My scent lingers on the breeze
Lilting Highland melodies
Are spun amongst the trees
If a journey I am taking
I’ll miss her more each day
My heart belongs to Scotland
There forever it will stay
My eyes will see the lone flag fly
So beautiful and fair
The stone cross in the churchyard
My dreams shall lead me there
Distant shores, what do you hide?
Too far away to see
My heart belongs to Scotland
And she keeps it safe for me
The bubbling streams, the lochs so pure
Hide my laughter and my tears
Mountain high and valley low
Protect my hopes and fears
Eagle sits on dusky pine
Soaked in the morning dew
My heart belongs to Scotland
But she shares it now with you
