ok, i know the scams have been done to death on here but heres the latest, and this one almost caught me out.
i had a phonecall from a company calling itself CMS, telling me that i will be able to claim my bank charges back and they will send me a pack with forms and info on how to do this. i checked the website details she gave me and they came up with what may well be a legit company, but no guarruntees there. (and the news yesterday that the courts have now stated that the bank charges are subject to the terms of fair trading makes it more likely that people will be contacted about claims. (still not finished in courts yet though, havet acctually stated they are unfair)) she had my name address already, and just for security wanted the expire date on my card. ok, little alarm bells started ringing in my head, but i carried on, knowing if she wanted the numbers off the back, shed be sworn at and hung up on. she prattled on again for a bit about sending me info/for security blaa blaa blaa, then asked for the long number off my card (ding dong!!!!) i asked her what she wanted that for since she was only sending me an info pack, she prattled again about security, so i told her in no uncertain terms that she had no requirment for my card details, im not giving them............click she hung up!!!
now im normaly prettly savvy when it comes to scam type contact, so ill admit guilt here that i i wasnt quite as alert as i should be, (id just been woken from a avo nap!)
