AVG not working right

Avg won't update so I deleted it from my laptop and when I went to find a site to re install it for free it kept saying that the site might harm my puter.

So the question is wether it is safe or not and if not what would you recommend as a free download to keep my puter safe

avg's servers are playing up just now but you can do a manual update by going to http://free.avg.com/download-update

I dont use AVG but if I mind right if anyone else is having bother updating open AVG up and look along the top toolbar and click the drop down menus till you see something that says update manager, you can then do a manual update from the downloaded update file

I re installed it on my comuputer but it still says its not up to date, tried the manual update but got the following message

connection with update server failed

so still not protected.

AVG's servers must be bottlenecked just now so I would try later on. It'll still be protecting you and as long as you dont open any attachments or download anything illegal : ie music, movies etc then you'll be fine in the meantime until it does connect

If you still feel uneasy then you could just uninstall AVG and switch to AVAST which is free too

Hi Octane thanks for your help, just logged back in and it seems to be working again, bliddy strange if you ask me. If it all goes pear shaped again I will try the other one.
