Over the past year I have shot the odd good photo.

Here I would like to take the opportunity to share my 3 personal favourites of 2008 with you all.

http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd169/Scotland-visions/LD.jpg

B&W photography is very dear to my heart. This photo I called "Lonely death in a foreign country"

http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd169/Scotland-visions/ntp.jpg

Over the past year I did more and more "Night Time Play" This photo is called "Moonstruck"

http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd169/Scotland-visions/NM.jpg

Last but any means not least a photo that has been heavily Photoshopped to give it the look I was after. This one I called "Nevermore"

What are your personal favourites of 2008?

Raven, 3 wonderful shots.

No.2 is my favourite. When I first saw this I thought it was an absolutely fantastic image (and the luck of having the salter lorry lights - with the long exposure - go over the bridge as well!!).

As ever you are an inspiration to us all.

Three real crackers of shots Raven.

I think no 1 would be my pick, I really like b`n` w`s too...

Since I`ve really just started back into the old photography m`larky I don`t really have that many pics to choose from but maybe I`ll come across one or two I could post up as a 2008 fave.

:)

Lovely choice Raven; must have been a difficult task. :)

I have just heard that I am getting a digital camera soon so maybe in a few months time I will have learned how to work it! My present one runs off steam so it is time I was updated!

Looking forward to more on this thread.....

OK, here's my 2008 selection (quite difficult to just choose 3) and for no particular reason 2 local lighthouses feature!!

1. The Black Gate - just up the road from my house in Murkle (very nearly just walked past this one while out walking with the kids one evening).
http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh116/deemac1965/40DA_3528_9edit2Sm-1.jpg

2. Dunnet Lighthouse Sunset - was taken while out at a band practise with the group "Megawatt" and during a break saw this fantastic sky (and luckily I had the camera with me for once!!)
http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh116/deemac1965/40DA_3081edit2Sm.jpg

3. Strathy Lighthouse at dusk - This was one of the Thurso camera club group summer outings (first visit here for me). The sky was fairly poor to start with but eventually developed into quite a nice sunset. Just happened to have the camera pointing in the right direction when the sun broke through the clouds for only a few seconds.

Great choice Deemac! Out of your favourites, mine is number 2 :)

Deemac,
Dunnet Lighthouse, they make such great subjects.

Fabulous shots, both of you.

My top 3 of the year...

1. Buzzard at Melvich. A lucky shot when the buzzard and the clouds were both in the right place at the right time.

2. Incoming storm. Just north of Dunrobin Castle in the first week of September - the storm coming up from the south overtook us.

3. Not quick enough! What happens when a young gull sits on a rock with its back to the waves and doesn't see one sneaking up behind it...

Now choosing my own favourites, I think the best I can do is choose some of my favourites, there are others I like as much, but these three were particularly satisfying at the time.

Difficult choice but my selection would be....

Panoramic view of a Noctilucent Cloud display over Thurso Bay - captured during a mid summer night
http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj138/astroman_caithness/3rdJuly08NoctilucentCloud03.jpg
Photos I took of this spectacular display got published in Astronomy mags.

Well, it has to be:
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c22/psyberyeti/IMG_5958.jpg
Bettyhill gritter; special because I turned around from trying to take a different photo and just did a point and shoot as it went past.

and

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c22/psyberyeti/IMG_1222.jpg
A graveyard in Birmingham (during a visit this year).

And then there is;

The reflection of the setting sun in a black marble gravestone. I saw so much in that reflection - it does not convey well in a photo, but you had to be there. It was special to me and I will never forget being there ...
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c22/psyberyeti/IMG_9891-2-2.jpg

Ok, if I could have a fourth photo it would be the tractor axel which started the 'Mid-life Crisis' thread. ;-)))))

Although the photo of the shot heading towards the clay is well caught I really like this photo. The contrast through the clouds is great. Fantstic colours as well.
