what is the best way to re pot my cacti as I will have to throw away all the compost they are in thanks to the cat!

It is not the easiest job when transferring them to bigger pots with all the soil intact but bare roots looks downright dangerous to my hands and arms!

make sure the compost is quite damp, so that it will stay together. Wrap the top spikey bits in several layers of newpaper, ie like a bandage. hope this helps

Repotting cacti are fairly easy as they are forgiving plants. Make sure you wear long sleeves and gloves. I would suggest that you use an old towel or rug (depending on the size of the cactus) instead of newspaper (experience taught me that and that is what our landscapers use). If it is a small cactus, I use my kitchen tongs carefully so as not to bruise the plant. Also make sure you have good drainage. Happy planting!
