Okay i nearly made a fool of myself infront of my OH last night!! Is it not the shortest day???

I also thought it was the longest day but the longest day is in June aint it!

Shelley, stop worrying.....Sunday 21st was the shortest day therefore it would have the longest night which I'm sure is what you meant! ;)

In the summer we get the longest day (of daylight) therefore it has the shortest night.

All days are the 24 hours long; it's only the daylight that fluctuates.....
