I am hopeing that some of you technical bods out there can assist with the choice of digital camera (without breaking the bank)

I have a need to take pictures of a close up nature that can be uploaded through the web, the items are quite small but are very detailed and I need something that can capture the detail ny current digital camera does not seem to be able to do this mind you it is 6 year old
Any help will be very much appreciated either by posting or PM
Thank you

Any cheap compact digital with a macro mode, which all will have, will do what you want.

Check out Vivitar Cameras on eBay, they can not be beaten for price and their Quality is excellent. I am sure you would find a camera there to suit your needs as they have an excellent selection. Starting Price for all Cameras is only £0.99 and it is possible to get a real Bargain. I bought a 8 Mega-Pixel Compact for £25.00 and it is Superb. Here is a Link to their Shop :-
