Hardknott pass, what an incredible experience! Wrynose was great, but Hardknott tops it! This has to be the best single track road in Britain!!!

It`s in the Lake District. Here is a little more info about it:

Here is the view back from up Wrynose, compares to Hardknott it seems like a pussycat road :-)
All the three pics were shot out of the car, hence the quality....

An abiding childhood memory was my dad stopping to let a car past as we were going up.
The van couldn't pull away - just kept stalling. Then he found the handbrake was dodgy too, I think I was about 6 - the first incling that life might be shorter than I wanted.

Great photos Raven.
They certainly brought back memories of our drive along it at the end of February this year - an amazing experience but not for the fainthearted.

I would say Hardknot is too twisty and narrow to be fun to drive fast. But its nothing compared to some of the older roads in Scandinavia. Some of the roads in Norway actually made my wife cry when we were on them.

The Lake District is lively, its like Scotland Lite.

Here is Skiddaw.
