Good site for them, http://www.gifs.net/gif/. You might need tio reduce them in size so use free on line GIF tools http://www.gifworks.com/
Find the GIF you want on the first site, click on right button on mouse and save picture and put it on your hard disc, go to the free web tools second site.
Go to file, then open, then browse to find your file then upload.
Once uploaded go to edit and resize.
In the resize box change size of largest figure to 80 and you need to make sure the file size is not over 12000?.
Once done right click and save the picture again.
Go to your user CP and edit gif and upload.
I'm up for it, of course. Changi - do you still want your one animated?

It's great fun to have seasonal avatars. Thanks Ricco for helping me (last year). Recycling is good and that includes avatars [lol].

I've trimmed it, removed every 2nd frame and reduced the quality but the best I can do is 14k size and it needs to be down to 12k. Anyone else want to give it a go?
I love Halloween! I guess I'm just a big kid :D

It's on the RHS of the first line on the page Sporran linked to - it's not actually called Bride of Frankie - direct URL of the GIF is here (http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a247/Elisabeth-online/halloween/halloween-6.gif).
Anyway, I've managed to do it by reducing the higher size to 70 pixels as well as cropping, culling & saving a lower quality. Hope it's still OK for you Sporran and works when you upload it...

Feeling very low tech after all these brilliant animated avatars .
Mine is in empathy with my lovely skittish kittens, who couldn't sit still on a broomstick for five seconds, are the wrong colour, but very keen to join in any fun that's going :D!
These animated avatars are so great, but my mac can't seem to get its head around them -nothing to do with my brain of course! ;)
So I'm sticking with simple and static for now.

Angela, don't worry about it, I am in the same position, just not techy enough, in my case I am putting it down as an age thing, my age not yours :(

Ricco, sorry I confused you over the name of the avatar! :o
Thanks so much, Bobinovich, but even though I saved your smaller version to my Mac, it still did not animate for me when I uploaded it as my avatar! :~( So I have gone back to my original version.
I do appreciate you trying to help, though, and at least the animated version can be viewed on this thread, so your effort was not wasted entirely! :-)
Angela, I love your blue witch's hat avatar. It's so cool! :-))
