Energy rating

I usually try to buy appliances with an A rating but I was just wondering what is the difference between the ratings?

I have found out that the difference between the A and C rating on the item I am interested in is 58kwh per year.

Excuse my ignorance, but not sure what this equates to?:confused Doesn't seem a lot.

Electricity is about 10pence/kWh so 58kWh is about £5.80

If that is a major appliance then it aint saving as much as I would have thought previously.
