What's the best lens size for decent landscape photography?
I'm talking the sort of pics where you could see the toes of your feet as well as the landscape if you so choose!
I haven't a clue about lenses other than they fit on the camera and show me different perspectives. but I'm not getting the shots I want from the lenses I have.

porshiepoo,
You are talking about a wideangle zoom lens.
For olympus this would be a lens similar to this:-

Hope this helps.

My favourite landscape lens is a Sigma 10-20mm lens (wide). Good idea to think also about an ND (Neutral Density) filter (to reduce the glare of the sky against the foreground) for a more even exposure. Also remember to select an f-stop to keep "more" in focus (f/11, f/18 etc.) but at the expense of a slower shutter speed (so best to use a tripod if its dull).

It took me a long time to get a reasonable grip of these technical points (and I'm still learning).

porshiepoo,
Deemac has recommended a lens that consistently has good words said about it, it is available for 4/3rd cameras and hence would fit the Olympus.
Quite expensive new, you would need to do some hunting to find a secondhand one.

Here's an example of the 10-20mm Sigma lens taken on Saturday 20th September 2008 at Dunnet Beach. (worth every penny!!)

porshiepoo,
You need to keep your eye out for a secondhand lens.

Deemac,
Stunning sky.

Deemac, that's exactly the kind of landscape I'm talking about. Brilliant!
Does the lens distort the view though cos the two structures in the background are leaning to one side????
