Such lovely, colourful photos, donsinc! Autumn is one of my favourite seasons, over here. Is that a Red Maple tree in the centre of your first photo, and a Rowan tree with the berries in the second?
Sporran:
The small red tree in the first photo is an Amur Maple, native to Japan or China which does very well as an ornamental tree here in northern Alberta, Canada.
Read about the Amur Maple here:
http://home.howstuffworks.com/amur-maple-tree.htm
The tree with the red berries is in fact a Mountain Ash tree, very common here in western Canada.

Thanks for your kind words about the pictures.

Lizz,
The colours, or lack of, in the Hydrangea are fascinating.

LIZZ - I too, find your hydrangea pic fascinating! I like the contrast of the dry old paper colour and texture of the flowers next to the verdant green of the leaves. It's very effective!

Lizz, what wonderful colours with the sun shining through....beautiful!
What is the ree with the gorgeous golden foliage donsinc? I'm guessing an Aspen or a Birch.

Actually LIZZ it is a Maple tree. The variety of Maple here in western Canada does not turn red as does the eastern Canadian variety. It turns that lovely yellow.
Our home is on this street and this is how it looked a couple of weeks ago. All the leaves have turned and dropped now, but the tree in the picture you asked about is just visible at the very end of the block on the right side in this picture. It was the very first one to turn, thus the picture.

This is now the carpet of leaves under the Golden Maple picture I posted just over a week ago, tree is almost bare after high winds and first frost.
Here's a couple taken in beetween the rain and sleet showers earlier this week.

Love the 2nd one nirofo, the autumn/winter colours when the light is low to the horizon are quite amazing in the far north, makes the landscape glow.
I've re-upped and re-named the 2 photo's, I think the numbness in my fingers when I took the photo's travelled to my brain when I named them ??? The mountain is not Ben Hope, it's Ben Klibreck !!!
Anyway, here they are again.
