This is the best I could do. Whenever I tried to get closer they flew away.

The colours in the second photograph are beautiful.
Just what I thought northlight - the "eyes" are stunning!

Thanks all. I think 1 & 3 are fritillery's but not sure which because there is so many different types and 2 is peacock butterfly. Mind you, I'm only taking educated guess-I read a book about butterflies as a teenager so 30 years later I could be wrong. Maybe another orger could help with info.

just for you jox they are 1) small tortoiseshell
2) peacock
3) red admiral
