View Full Version : Caithness Place Name: Rhian?

I came across a Parish birth certificate that mentioned a name, Rhian, associated with the Dunbeath / Berriedale area. For the life of me I cannot find any information that suggests this is an actual place. The only Rhian I have found mention of is on Lewis, but I am fairly certain this is not the place referenced.

Any wise folks out there know if this is an old place name for somewhere else? Or the name of a specific area in Caithness?

Thanks in advance.

There is a Rhian burn up near Tongue in North Sutherland......any use?
Also found a Rhian Cottage, House at Berriedale which is more like it. Sorry, can't find anything more...

Thanks for the info, Rhian cottage is probably what it is, any idea where that would be in Berriedale?

Hi
I think Rhian House is on the A9 just at the north end of Borgue (OS ref 133261). If I remember correctly I think there is a Rhian Breck close by.
