Camera is a Canon Ixus 6 mega pixel - can`t remember the model number

Excuse me for seeming thick but how does the camera manage to take the photos?
Wonderful pics, Grantyg. Next time I come north I must look you up and get some advice - I love the perspective!

Just to answer a few questions
Camera is an ixus 800is
Triggering the camera is done by remote control - as is movement etc -

And I`m based in central scotland so I only get up north at Xmas and easter.
