Looks like someone has taken an interest in keeping people away from these dainty seabirds. Well done :D

On the harbour quay are Arctic terns?

Using beak colouring, they are really hard to identify against a bright sky, but the couple I was close enough to be sure of at Longberry last week were both Arctics. With the still sea being very clear, there were thousands of tiny Saithe (each a few cms long) visible very close to the rockface. I didn't see a tern successfully catch one though.

have been watching the ternery for the last few weeks and it looks as though the blackbacks have taken all the eggs/young as they have been perched along the back wall all this week. Will take a walk down there this week sometime to confirm but i fear the worst
