Does anyone know how to remove a drawer from a Bisley filing cabinet? Some vital papers have somehow managed to slip down behind the drawers and are lurking at the bottom. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Yep - pull the drawer out to its furthest extent. You should see a small silver lever on either side - if I remember correctly pull both levers towards you and continue to pull the drawers out - you will need to lift the front a bit to lift the wheels off the rails.

Hope this helps - post again when you are ready to put the drawer back - ;)

Thanks Ricco but am I being thick (?) but there doesn't seem to be anything resembling a lever of any description on either side of the drawer - no further forward I'm afraid. Feel like taking a sledgehammer to the blooming thing!

1. Open each drawer in turn and remove contents.
2. Turn the filing cabinet upside down.
3. Try opening the highest or lowest drawers to retrieve papers.
4. Turn filing cabinet right way up.
5. Return items to drawers but don't overfill.

Thanks everyone for all of your suggestions - will probably resort to the tipping it upside down idea, just rustling up the will power to empty the blooming thing.

We had Bisley at work and I am sure you can get the drawer off. If I remember rightly you can unhook the drawer from the runner. There are little metal bits on the runner that go into the side of the drawer and if you can manouvre it backwards and forwards on the runner you can unhook them. You do get a bit covered in grease though.

Glad to be of assistance. I found out how to dismantle it by accident, I thought I had broke a drawer and had to figure out how to put it back together hahahaha.
