Next year is the International Year of Astronomy (http://www.astronomy2009.co.uk/index.php) and events are planned across the country. Together with a few other local enthusiasts I'm looking at arranging some astronomy events in the local area (Caithness & adjacent areas), possibly commencing late in 2008.
The events would include public observing sessions, where the general public could come along and look through telescopes at celestial objects in the night sky (such as the Moon and planets). If anyone would like to help out then they can contact me at the email address below. People with spotting scopes or telescopes that are willing to attend the observing sessions and let people view the night sky through their instruments would be particularly welcome.
