Ive just had a phone call from london Lyle has won second place in the competition. dont know what prize yet but thats a teriffic result especially for a fifteen year old

I'm afraid you got it wrong I can asure you he is fifteen until his birthday in October I should know I'm his grandad! and it's still a terific achievment I believe there was over 750 entries to start with even to get to the final was a great achievment especially as many of them were professional players!

EDIT: According to the website (http://www.guitar-idol.co.uk/prizes) the prizes include music equipment & accessories, tuition, and optionally appearing on a finalists CD. However it doesn't list prizes by position so there's no way of knowing as yet. However I suspect that by far the greatest thing that Lyle will take home from his trip will be the memories of this whole experience.
What a stunning result for a 15 year old form Thurso, Caithness. Hope he goes a long way with his talent. Just imagine what the possibilities are when he's 20 or so!! Great news - well done Lyle:Razz
As far as I'm aware (other than Thurso High School and Thurso Gala town square performances - sorry for me these don't count . . . . . ;)) the London Guitar Idol final was his SECOND ever public performance!!!! (the first being a couple of weeks ago).

good on him,the boy got talent,and no mean achivement he will still improve with time.
Please say You have some video footage of his performance would love to see it.
Does anyone know what his prize was? I know that the winner GG got a PRS Custom guitar and will be opening tonight for Satriani, what about Lyle though?

they got a lot of prizes do the runner up and the finalists...ranging from goodies from guitar makers PRS, Peavey ect. Amps and pedals etc!
all the finalists will feature on a special CD that will be released aswell!

Hey guys, just got home about an hour ago (Flight was cancelled - long story!), thanks for all the kind words, I'm absolutely freakin delighted!
The show was professionally filmed by Lick Library and should be online at the end of the month, if not, next month!
I had a blast, as did everyone else! Next step - World domination!

Wow, Lyle, what a brilliant performance! That blew me away, and you made it look so easy! :cool: I can't wait till my sons come home tonight, so I can show them. They both play guitar and will be as impressed as I am!
